Wake up with tea at 6.30. The last night in a lodge...from now we will sleep in our tents. Before breakfast we have a breakthrough with the satellite: it finally works for the first time since Kathmandu!

From Kharikhola we climb steep through the rice terraces while the sun burns on our already red skin. The first goal of the day is the mera primary school. Seven years ago, Ngima Dorji, our Sirdar (guide) took the initiative to found the school. Before that, the children in the region had no primary school. Ngima raised money with help of friends from New Zealand and organized the construction of the school.
We are received by one of the teachers, who shows us around the 4 different classes, varying in size beteween 3 and 15 children. It's impressive to see how eager the kids are to learn. The children walk to school each day, from the surrounding villages.

After the school visit we continue the steep climb to Pangkoma, where Ngima was born. His mother still lives there. We set up the tents at just outside the house that Ngima build for her and go for a quick nap.
Tomorrow we cross the Pangkoma La pass and leave the inhabited world.
