22.03.2003 Getting close to basecamp

We are now at Tagnac (4366 m), just 4 hours walking from Mera Peak Basecamp. The walk from Mosam Kharka to Tagnac was awesome! Super scenery, great sun and spectectular views on the Mera Peak. The weather has finally improved and also has enabled us to load the batteries with the solar panels. Hope the weather will stay that way! If so we will be updating soon again.

Tomorrow we will spend acclimatizing and hopefully climb up to the first skiable slopes! We will also do avalanche exercises with the climbing Sherpas.
If the weather holds we will go up to basecamp the day after tomorrow, and from there in 2 or 3 days to the summit.

It's great to read the messages in the guestbook! We understand the war has started. It's a strange feeling that we are up here far from everything.
